The Safe City Authority has launched a police drone pilot project to strengthen law enforcement and improve emergency response across the city. According to the authority’s spokesperson, the trial phase of the drones began today and will help police reach incident sites more efficiently.
Under the new system, when a citizen makes a call to 15 (Police Helpline), the drone will arrive at the scene before the police team. It will record live visuals and collect video evidence from the location. These drones are connected to an automated system that dispatches them immediately after a distress call is received.
In the initial stage, the drones will operate within a 15-kilometer radius. They will assist authorities during traffic jams, protests, or any emergency situation where quick assessment is required.
Officials said the new technology will help police monitor public safety more effectively and ensure a faster response during crises. The Safe City Authority’s drone initiative is expected to play a major role in maintaining law and order in Lahore, especially during large gatherings and emergencies.

The spokesperson added that this modern approach reflects a new era of smart policing where drones serve as the first responders, helping collect on-ground intelligence and evidence for investigations.
