The Punjab government has approved the rental of 15,000 tablets to carry out a province-wide socio-economic survey, 24NewsHD reported on Tuesday. Each tablet will be rented at Rs 2,500 per month resulting in an annual expenditure of Rs. 450 million.

The devices will be provided by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) through a formal agreement expected to be signed soon.

The survey will be conducted jointly by the Punjab Bureau of Statistics and the Urban Unit. Teams will visit households across the province to collect detailed socio-economic data.

Officials said that the survey findings will help the Punjab government plan and implement welfare programs and development schemes based on accurate information. This evidence-based approach will ensure that support reaches the people who need it most.

The use of tablets is expected to speed up data collection and improve the accuracy of results, making the Punjab socio-economic survey a landmark initiative for informed policymaking in the province.
