Islamabad, July 22, 2025:  The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is now offering a 180-day multiple-entry visa for international environmental experts and innovators planning to apply for the country’s prestigious Blue Visa Residency.

The announcement comes from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), as part of the nation’s ongoing strategy to position itself as a global sustainability leader.

What is the Blue Residency Visa?

The Blue Residency is a 10-year long-term visa launched by the UAE for individuals who have made remarkable contributions in environmental protection, sustainability, climate change, and renewable energy.

It joins the ranks of other long-term visas like the Golden Visa and Green Visa, but with a distinct focus on climate innovation and environmental leadership.

Who Can Apply?

The new initiative is open to both local and international individuals in the following categories:

  • Influencers & Experts: Individuals with impactful work in climate, energy, or sustainability fields.
  • Scientists & Researchers: Must be endorsed by the UAE Scientists Council.
  • Entrepreneurs & Investors: Actively running businesses in renewable energy or sustainability.
  • Environmental Specialists: Working in public or private sector organizations related to the environment.

Application Process Made Easy

Applicants can now apply through the ICP’s online portal or mobile app (UAEICP) with a four-step process:

  1. Fill in details and upload documents
  2. Pay the required fee
  3. Submit the application
  4. Receive confirmation via email

The initial application takes around 7 minutes, and if everything is in order, approval is expected within one working day.

Required Documents

  • Valid passport copy (minimum 6 months)
  • Recent photo
  • Supporting documents (certificates, awards, project reports, or nomination letters)
