ISLAMABAD: In order to improve the Karachi Port and spur economic activity, Abu Dhabi will contribute $250 million over the course of ten years.
The CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Pakistan, Khurram Aziz Khan, visited with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday and told him that the corporation will be investing $250 million in the port over the next ten years, according to the PM Office.
The CEO of the firm stated, accompanied by a delegation, that a fully functional multifunctional terminal will be finished in two years at a cost of $130 million. Cargo ships with a maximum capacity of 120,000 tons would be able to anchor at the port thanks to the upgraded infrastructure. In addition to cutting down on clearance times, the PM advocated for the use of machines and contemporary technologies to enhance cargo and container handling at the port.
Later, PM Shehbaz stated that Pakistan’s IT exports will increase as a result of Huawei providing yearly professional training to 300,000 Pakistani students at a meeting with a four-member team headed by Ethan Sun, CEO of Huawei Pakistan. He stated that the government will prioritize working with Huawei in order to provide young people with sophisticated IT training in a variety of disciplines.
In a separate meeting, PM Shehbaz pledged Pakistan’s assistance to Oman in combating terrorism and denounced the heinous terrorist assault on Imambargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Muscat. The ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Al Kharusi, was present.
He also expressed gratitude for Oman’s prompt action and collaboration with the Pakistani team in the return of the corpses and medical care for the injured.
