Islamabad, Feb 27: Lahore Airport authorities have ramped up security measures, preventing 3,171 passengers from boarding flights since the beginning of the year due to incomplete, suspicious, or fraudulent travel documents. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has heightened its vigilance against human smuggling networks, leading to multiple arrests.
In a series of operations, FIA apprehended 10 individuals attempting to travel using forged documents, while 35 others were caught engaging in organized begging activities. All detained suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore for further legal action.
Moreover, FIA successfully intercepted 12 high-profile fugitives who were attempting to flee the country. These individuals were wanted by Punjab Police for serious criminal offenses. FIA Lahore Zone Director, Sarfaraz Khan Virk, emphasized the agency’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against human smuggling and illegal migration. He further stated that passenger travel records are being meticulously scrutinized to identify and prevent unlawful departures.
