Islamabad, 11 Apr, 2025: A tense situation unfolded in Islamabad on Friday afternoon as the Serena Hotel caught fire, sending thick plumes of smoke rising from its upper level.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10th edition teams staying at the Serena Hotel were also at risk due to the blaze.
Normally, all cricket teams stay at the Serena Hotel, and special precautionary measures are taken whenever teams are present.
According to a representative of the district administration, the fire had ignited on the building’s topmost floor, but no casualties were reported in the early stages of the emergency.
Firefighters worked tirelessly, using ladders and aerial platforms to access the affected areas. The team remained focused on preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent floors or compromising the building’s structure.
While the exact cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, initial reports suggest that an electrical short circuit or equipment malfunction could be to blame.
