The suffering of flood victims in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan has worsened as private boat operators have started exploiting passengers by charging exorbitant fares.
According to reports, the owners of private boats have raised the fare for a single trip to between 40,000 and 100,000 rupees.
Due to the extremely dire situation, flood victims are forced to pay these amounts just to save their lives. Affected people said, “We are already drowning, and now more cruelty is being inflicted upon us.”

One victim, after an argument with a boat operator, pleaded, “Don’t oppress us.” To this, the boatman replied, “I am only charging for fuel.”
