Parts of the city witnessed heavy rain in Karachi on Thursday morning, causing major challenges for residents commuting to work and school. The downpour affected several areas, including Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and nearby neighborhoods, leaving the city struggling with waterlogging and traffic jams.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the overall weather in most regions of the country will remain hot and dry during the next twelve hours. However, Karachi and its surrounding areas are expected to receive more spells of rain accompanied by wind and thunder.

Continuous showers over the past two days have already left several low-lying localities submerged, while water levels in the Malir and Lyari rivers have risen sharply.

The persistent heavy rain in Karachi has flooded major roads and residential areas, severely affecting mobility and daily activities. Many people faced difficulty reaching offices, while children struggled to attend schools amid the wet conditions.

In response, the Sindh government announced the closure of all schools, colleges, and educational institutions across Karachi Division on Wednesday to ensure safety during the ongoing monsoon rains.

The Commissioner Karachi issued an official notification confirming that both public and private institutions will stay closed. This precautionary step was taken following the PMD’s advisory predicting more rain, strong winds, and possible thunderstorms in the coming hours.
