Freight train accident in Renala Khurd disrupted railway operations on Monday after two cargo trains collided on the eastern bypass. The crash claimed the life of Assistant Driver Imtiaz on the spot, while another person was left injured.

The accident took place between Renala Khurd and Habibabad, where the engine of one freight train rammed into another cargo train and overturned. As a result, the locomotive and several wagons were derailed and badly damaged.

Following the crash, train operations on the main line between Lahore and Karachi were suspended temporarily. According to railway officials, services will remain halted until the track is cleared. Technical teams have been dispatched to remove the wreckage and efforts are underway to restore the line as quickly as possible.

Rescue teams confirmed that the freight train’s engine was completely destroyed in the collision. Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi expressed deep grief over the death of Assistant Driver Imtiaz, noting that human life cannot be replaced.

The minister also ordered an inquiry into the incident, directing that a detailed report be submitted within three days. He assured that those found responsible will face strict punishment.
