Pakistan has made mountaineering history. For the first time ever, an all-women expedition has successfully climbed Bari La Peak, marking a proud moment for the country.
The expedition, organized and sponsored by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, brought together women from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Their message was clear: Pakistani women can conquer not only mountains but also the barriers that stand in their way.

Before their ascent, the climbers trained at the Sadpara Mountaineering Training School, learning essential techniques from renowned mountaineers Sajid Sadpara and Ashraf Sadpara. On September 10, after days of effort, the team reached the summit, carrying not just their gear but also the hopes and pride of millions.
Their achievement has been hailed as more than a sporting milestone, it is a powerful statement about resilience, determination, and the growing role of women in adventure sports in Pakistan.
Karrar Haideri, Vice president of Alpine club of pakistan confirmed and said The Prime Minister congratulated the climbers, calling their success “historic,” and invited them to the PM House in recognition of their courage. Credit was also given to the leadership of Maj Gen Irfan Arshad, President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, whose vision helped make the expedition possible.
He said this climb is just the beginning and the success of these trailblazers will inspire more women to step into the world of mountaineering, ensuring that Pakistan’s majestic peaks continue to echo with the footsteps of those who dare to dream.
