Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its flights to Canada this month to carry out mandatory maintenance on its Boeing 777 long-range aircraft, the airline announced on Friday.
The special Boeing 777s, which can fly nonstop for up to 17 hours across the Atlantic, will undergo a three-week technical inspection that includes the replacement of critical parts. PIA noted that such comprehensive maintenance is required once every ten years.
The airline said the decision was aimed at ensuring its fleet is fully prepared to handle an expected rise in passenger demand in the coming months.
“While we regret the inconvenience to our passengers, their safety and the complete fitness of our aircraft remain our top priority,” a PIA spokesperson said.
