Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday approved a rail car project to link Islamabad and Rawalpindi, giving the green light to the interior and railway ministers to initiate work.
Sharif said the project would bring significant benefits to residents of the twin cities as well as nearby areas.
“Today, Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed me on the proposal and their planning,” he noted, describing it as a major public welfare initiative with high effectiveness.
The prime minister added that since the track was already available, the service would not only facilitate local commuters but also attract tourists.
