The Islamabad police has announced that it will take strict action against those involved in serious traffic violations, particularly wrong way driving.
In a post on X, the Islamabad police, quoting Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (Rtd) Hamzah Humayun, said that first information reports (FIRs) will be registered against those involved in serious traffic violations.
According to Islamabad police, the FIRs would be registered under the Section 279 of Pakistan Penal Code. The section relates to rash driving or riding on a public way.

“Whoever drives any vehicle, or rides, on any public way in a manner so rash or negligent as to endanger human life, or to be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to [two years] or with fine which may extend to [three] thousand rupees, or with both,” the section reads.
