The Punjab government has given approval to upgrade 200 afternoon schools across the province, taking them from the primary level to high school.
The step aims to improve access to education and create better learning opportunities for children across province.
According to officials, more than Rs. 470 million will be spent on the upgradation process. Among the selected institutions, 64 schools have been included under a pilot project while 136 are being added as new entries.
In the first phase, the Finance Department has already released Rs. 100 million to start the project. The scheme will officially run from April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.

District Education Authorities have been directed to submit regular reports on the use of funds to ensure transparency.
At the same time, guidelines have been issued regarding teacher recruitment and salary disbursement.
