The Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 has officially been unveiled by the provincial government, introducing an installment plan and balloting schedule that promises not only to modernize transportation but also create thousands of employment opportunities for the youth.
This eco-friendly initiative aims to reduce pollution by encouraging clean mobility while providing affordable electric taxis to eligible drivers.
Interest-Free Installments for Drivers
A major highlight of the Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 is the interest-free installment plan. Drivers will be able to own brand-new electric taxis through easy monthly payments, making sustainable transportation more accessible without the burden of high financing costs.
Phased Distribution of Electric Taxis
The scheme will be rolled out in phases. During the initial stage, around 1,100 electric taxis will be handed over to selected drivers through a transparent balloting system. This initiative is expected to revolutionize the taxi sector, especially in major cities, while offering unemployed youth a steady source of income.
Models Available Under the Scheme
The government has confirmed that vehicles like Honri Ve 2.0 and Dongfeng Box will be part of the Punjab E-Taxi fleet. Each taxi will come equipped with GPS tracking, smart meters, and official branding to ensure passenger safety, transparency, and a reliable travel experience.
Eligibility Criteria for Punjab E-Taxi Scheme
Applicants must be residents of Punjab, at least 18 years old, with a valid driving license and a clean banking record. The scheme is open to both men and women, reflecting the government’s commitment to equal opportunity.
Punjab E-Taxi Scheme Balloting & Registration
The registration process will begin in September 2025 through an online portal where candidates can submit their applications along with necessary documents. Submissions will close in October 2025, followed by a balloting and verification stage in November 2025. The successful applicants will receive their electric taxis starting from December 2025, marking the launch of the first phase.
