The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution calling for a complete ban on the use of mobile phones by students in all government and private schools. The resolution was presented by government member Raheela Khadim Hussain.

The resolution highlighted that the government holds the primary responsibility for the mental and social development of children.

It noted that mobile phones and social media are negatively affecting children’s moral values and called on the government to develop a serious action plan to address this issue.

It also recommended legislation to regulate children’s social media accounts and enforce the ban on mobile phone use in schools.
