Pakistan’s power generation increased by 8 percent year-on-year (YoY) in August 2025, reaching 14,218 gigawatt-hours (GWh), surpassing reference levels.

According to sector data compiled by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), cumulative generation during the first two months of FY26 stood at 28,341 GWh, broadly unchanged from the same period last year.

The brokerage house attributed the August growth to stronger demand, supported by reduced tariffs and a shift of captive industrial consumption toward the national grid.
