Secretary IT and Telecom has informed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on IT that internet speed in Pakistan has slowed down because submarine cables were cut near the coast of Yemen.
Responding to a question regarding slow internet, the Secretary explained that not one or two, but four to five submarine cables were cut, out of which two cables supplying internet to Pakistan have been affected. He added that companies have shifted bandwidth to alternate routes, but it may take four to five weeks to fully restore the cables.
