The government recently decided to lift the three-year ban on domestic gas connections.
According to sources, recommendations have been prepared to end the restriction, and connections will be provided to consumers based on LNG tariff rates. Moreover, a new framework for imported LNG connections has been sent to gas companies, and a new merit order will be issued following fresh applications for gas meters.
The process of issuing new household connections is expected to start during the next fiscal year. Under the proposed plan, the regular demand notice fee has been set at Rs. 18,000, while an urgent policy suggests charging Rs. 80,000.
