Punjab has allowed conditional waterfowl hunting only on weekends with valid permits and firearm licenses, while hunting in protected areas remains prohibited.

Punjab government has granted conditional permission for waterfowl hunting from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Hunting will only be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays for individuals holding a valid shooting permit and an authorized firearm license.

The notification, issued under the guidance of Secretary Wildlife Mudassar Riaz Malik, emphasizes that hunting in protected areas across Punjab remains strictly prohibited. Hunters are allowed to hunt only the number of birds specified in Schedule I of the Wildlife Act, and exceeding this limit will be treated as a criminal offense.

Hunting from vehicles is banned, and hunters have been instructed to avoid causing any damage to crops or private property during hunting trips.

Wildlife Department Officer Mubeen Ilahi said that wildlife rangers will monitor legal duck hunting across the province, and all departmental hotspots will be under close surveillance to ensure adherence to the rules.
