Pakistan Railways has been directed to boost security measures across its network including installing three jammers in each train, following the Jaffer Express blast earlier this month.
The directive came from the National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways, which emphasized stronger patrolling on sensitive routes to safeguard passengers from possible terrorist threats.
During a meeting on Friday, updates on other key issues such as the Karachi-Pipri freight corridor project and illegal encroachments on railway land in Sukkur were also discussed.
Briefing the committee, the Secretary of Pakistan Railways said the new freight corridor would connect Karachi Port with Pipri through Keamari, linking it to Motorway M-9.
