A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage on Monday caused several popular apps and websites including Snapchat, Duolingo, Canva and Roblox to go offline for hours.
The disruption began after a technical failure hit AWS, one of the biggest cloud service providers in the world.
According to Amazon’s status page, the issue started in its US-EAST-1 region, leading to slow performance and connection errors across several online platforms. Engineers at AWS said they were working to fix the fault and find out what triggered it.

Thousands of users reported problems accessing their favorite apps. Reports on Downdetector showed over five thousand complaints from Snapchat users alone. Other platforms that went down included:
- Amazon
 - Canva
 - Duolingo

The problem is traced to AWS tools such as DynamoDB and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), key systems that store data and manage servers for many global companies.
AWS engineers said they are gradually restoring systems and monitoring stability. While the company has not yet shared the exact cause, it confirmed that reliability and service recovery are its top priorities.
Users have been told to check official AWS updates or Downdetector for live restoration news.
