Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the CDA Model Nursery located on Park Road on Tuesday, accompanied by Member Environment Asfandyar Baloch, Member Engineering Syed Nafeesat Raza, DG Environment, and other officials.
During the visit, the Chairman was briefed on the upgradation, restoration, and transformation of the CDA Model Nursery into the “Gardenia Hub.” Officials informed him that the transformation work has been completed and that the Gardenia Hub spans over 50 acres.
He was further briefed that the Islamabad Gardenia Hub will be among Asia’s largest nurseries, housing over one million plants. The nursery includes 25 state-of-the-art controlled and ventilated greenhouses, providing ideal environments for plant growth and research.
Officials also informed that the nursery will serve future plantation and forest conservation needs in Islamabad, maintaining a large plantation stock. In addition, flower shops have been established, and a special mobile app will soon be launched to allow citizens to buy plants online.
The Model Nursery also features a training and research center for botanical studies and uses modern propagation techniques to develop new plant varieties. A dedicated display area has been set up for colorful flower exhibitions.

Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the Model Nursery has been developed into a state-of-the-art facility meeting international standards. He emphasized special training for CDA Environment Wing staff to ensure the proper care and maintenance of plants.
He added that the nursery’s upgradation aims to establish Islamabad as a key hub for horticulture, marking a major step toward making the capital greener and more beautiful.
