OpenAI has announced the launch of a new AI-powered browser called ChatGPT Atlas.

According to the company, this browser will initially be available for macOS, while versions for Windows, iOS, and Android will be introduced soon. Interestingly, ChatGPT Atlas will also be available to all free users.

In the race for artificial intelligence, browsers have now become the new battleground. Google Chrome has long dominated this space, but experts believe that AI chatbots and agents have completely transformed the way people work online. For this reason, several startups have launched their own AI browsers.

During a live broadcast, Ben Godger, OpenAI’s Engineering Lead, revealed that ChatGPT Atlas is deeply integrated with ChatGPT. Users will now be able to interact directly with their search results.

One of the most notable features of ChatGPT Atlas is its “Sidecar” panel, which automatically extracts information from the web page a user is viewing and provides ChatGPT with the necessary context. This eliminates the need for users to repeatedly copy text or drag links.

According to Adam Fry, OpenAI’s Product Lead, this feature will be fully integrated into Atlas. It will also include a “browser history” option that saves visited web pages to make responses more personalized.

Additionally, ChatGPT Atlas includes a new “Agent Mode”, allowing ChatGPT to perform small online tasks on behalf of the user. However, this feature will initially be available only to Plus, Pro, and Business users.
