An extortion racket targeting traders and citizens involved in buying and selling property and homes in Karachi has been exposed, leading to the arrest of three suspects who were demanding money from property buyers and sellers.
The extortionists arrested by the CIA were linked to the Lyari gang headed by Shakeel Badshah. According to SSP CIA Amjad Sheikh, the operation was carried out in the North Karachi industrial area.
The suspects used to scout property buyers and sellers and, posing as agents, obtained the owners’ details. Property owners were then threatened and extorted through calls from foreign numbers.
SSP Amjad Sheikh stated that the gang leader has so far extorted lakhs of rupees from citizens. For scouting, the suspects were paid amounts ranging from 90,000 to 200,000 PKR, which were transferred via online JazzCash accounts.
The suspects were also found involved in car lifting, firing at police, and possession of illegal weapons. Meanwhile, Rangers conducted an operation in Lyari and arrested an operative of the Wasiullah Lakho gang.

The arrested suspect confessed to over fifty robbery and street crime incidents and was involved in more than eleven cases of murder and attempted murder. He was handed over to the police for further action.
