The Civil Hospital Hyderabad has come under fire after reports surfaced that patients carrying mobile phones were allegedly denied treatment under new internal instructions.
An audio clip of AMS Nursing and Dengue Focal Person Dr. Poonam Jatoi went viral on social media, in which she can be heard saying that any patient entering the hospital with a mobile phone or camera switched on would not be treated. She reportedly claimed that the directive came from the Medical Superintendent (MS) and the Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad.
However, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen later clarified that no such order was officially issued. He stated that treatment will not be denied to any patient but added that no one will be allowed to create chaos or record videos inside the hospital.
The viral audio has sparked a public debate about patient rights and hospital management practices in one of Sindh’s largest hospitals. Critics say the move reflects deeper administrative issues, as the hospital is already facing severe shortages of medicines, oxygen supply and essential medical equipment due to financial constraints.
