Pakistan has urged Muslim countries to strengthen economic ties and accelerate digital cooperation to achieve shared growth and stability. The call was made at the 41st Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation COMCEC held in Istanbul. Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan represented Pakistan at the session which brought together delegates from OIC member states to discuss trade development and economic partnership. He highlighted that Muslim countries are facing major global challenges and now more than ever unity and cooperation are essential for progress.
The minister highlighted that trade among OIC countries remains low despite having vast potential. Many barriers such as complicated regulations weak connectivity and lack of infrastructure are holding back progress. He suggested that member states reduce these barriers and make customs procedures easier so that goods and services can move more freely across borders. He stated that the OIC trade agreement should become a real tool for trade cooperation instead of a symbolic document.
