Samsung has released the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which boasts multiple improvements, as promised—but only in South Korea. With the most sophisticated camera system seen on a folding phone, this is currently Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable to date.
The Honor Magic V3, which weighs 226 grams and has a thickness of 9.3 mm, is the thinnest and lightest folding device in the world; the Galaxy Fold is only 10.6 mm thick and weighs 236 grams. With a larger 8-inch main display and a 20:18 aspect ratio, the screen also has the biggest aspect ratio within the Z Fold series.
In addition, the secondary screen is 6.5 inches taller and features a more traditional 21:9 aspect ratio, akin to phones with bars. A metal frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 provide protection for both screens.
The internals and battery specifications remain the same, but the camera setup brings upgrades. The main camera is now a 200MP sensor with OIS support, a first for the Galaxy Z Fold series.
The rest of the cameras appear to be the same including the 10MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The two selfie cameras on the two screens are no different either.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is set to go for sale in South Korea on October 25 and reports indicate that it will reach China as the Samsung Galaxy W25. The starting price is currently at $2040.
