The administrations of Rawalpindi and Murree have unveiled a comprehensive protection plan for the 2024–25 Murree snowfall season, scheduled to run from November 1 to February 28.
The Rawalpindi Commissioner has endorsed the plan, which aims to enhance safety following the tragic events of 2022, when 22 people lost their lives due to heavy snowfall.
Under the plan, personnel from the National Highway Authority, Forest Department, Civil Defence, and Traffic Police will be stationed in Murree throughout the season. An emergency fund of Rs59.3 million has been requested to support these measures.
Additionally, 100 civil defense volunteers will be deployed with full safety kits, including flashlights, rain gear, and life jackets, to provide immediate assistance to tourists.
The administration expects that these strengthened safety measures will ensure a safer and more secure experience for visitors during Murree’s winter season.
