Pakistan’s leading edtech company, Knowledge Platform, has merged with Kenya’s Eneza Education to establish the world’s first African-Asian edtech venture. The combined entity, headquartered in Singapore and operating under the name Knowledge Platform, now supports over one million learners across Africa and Asia through mobile, web, and SMS-based technologies.
The new team, comprising more than 100 specialists, brings expertise in AI-driven learning solutions, instructional design, and education support.
Wambura Kimunyu, former CEO of Eneza and now Chief Growth Officer of Knowledge Platform, highlighted the significance of the merger: “Over 3 billion young people live in emerging markets. For a prosperous, equitable, peaceful, and green future, investing in their education is paramount. By combining Eneza’s strength in B2C solutions for Africa with Knowledge Platform’s depth in B2B and B2B2C models in Asia, we are uniquely positioned to serve the massive youth bulge in East Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.”
Knowledge Platform founder Mahboob Mahmood emphasized the complementary strengths:
“Eneza has mastered building a large and sustainable low-cost customer base in Africa, while we have led innovation in gamified learning. Together, we aim to advance both curricular and extra-curricular education, from math and science to digital, climate, and financial literacy.”
CTO Sajid Anjum added: “Our learning games and competitions are resonating strongly, especially for 21st-century subjects. For example, we recently launched a global climate literacy competition for middle schools. Such impact-driven innovation, we believe, will increasingly flow from emerging markets to the rest of the world.”
The collaboration was facilitated by GSMA, which had supported both ventures through its Innovation Fund. Reacting to the announcement, Max Cuvellier Giacomelli, Head of GSMA Mobile for Development, said: “We are thrilled to see two of our alumni join forces across continents. This partnership not only strengthens digital inclusion but also demonstrates the power of collaboration in driving education and learning solutions globally.”
