Islamabad, Feb 14: In a shocking turn of events, the President of the Waziristan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), along with two Customs officers, were abducted in South Waziristan on Thursday, sparking widespread concerns within the local business community.
Reports indicate that Saifur Rehman, the WCCI President, along with Customs Superintendent Nisar Abbasi and Inspector Khushal, were traveling back from the Customs office located at the Angoor Adda border crossing when their vehicle was intercepted by unidentified individuals.
The assailants took all three men to an undisclosed location, leaving the community in a state of panic. Deputy Commissioner Nasir Khan confirmed the abductions but stated that their whereabouts remain unknown as of the latest update.

Authorities, including the district administration and police, have initiated an investigation into the matter, though a formal First Information Report (FIR) has yet to be filed. The lack of clear information has left traders, residents, and business owners anxious about the safety of the individuals and the potential impact on local business operations.
The Wana Trade Union and WCCI have strongly condemned the abduction, calling for immediate intervention from the government and security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals. In response to the increasing lawlessness, traders have warned of protests and disruptions if the situation fails to improve.
Local residents have also voiced their concerns, urging security forces to take more decisive actions to prevent further incidents and restore public trust. This incident underscores the growing insecurity in the region, with many fearing that such events could severely hinder business activities and destabilize the area further.
