Islamabad, Feb 20: French Ambassador Nicolas Galey hosted a special event in Islamabad to celebrate the resumption of direct PIA flights between Islamabad and Paris. Since January 10, PIA has restored this vital air link, strengthened bilateral ties and enhanced aviation cooperation between Pakistan and France.
During the gathering, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the PIA CEO Marshal Amir Hayat for choosing Paris as the first European destination for resumed operations. He praised the airline’s service and punctuality, highlighting the efforts of PIA and the Pakistani government in meeting EU aviation safety standards.

The event also emphasized the strategic partnership between PIA and Air France-KLM, which now offers seamless connections to 21 European destinations. With reduced travel time and competitive ticket pricing, the flights are expected to boost tourism, trade, and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Acknowledging France’s role in Pakistan’s aviation sector, the ambassador highlighted ongoing collaborations, including aircraft maintenance by Air France Industries, avionics support from Thales, and a technical agreement on air safety training. He reaffirmed European aviation manufacturers’ readiness to support PIA’s fleet modernization.
The evening concluded with optimism for strengthened cooperation in aviation and beyond, reinforcing the deep-rooted ties between France and Pakistan.
