Islamabad, Feb 25: At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Uzbekistan on February 25-26. The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other key members of his cabinet, as confirmed by the Foreign Office Spokesperson in a press release on Monday.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif and President Mirziyoyev will hold bilateral discussions on a wide range of issues, including connectivity, trade, investment, energy, defence and security, regional stability, and education. The leaders are expected to exchange views on regional and international matters of mutual interest. Additionally, several bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed.
Prime Minister Sharif is also scheduled to address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, where leading businessmen from both countries will participate. The forum will facilitate business-to-business (B2B) meetings, aiming to further enhance bilateral trade and explore new opportunities for economic collaboration.
The visit highlights the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, as well as their shared commitment to peace and development. The prime minister’s trip underscores Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with Uzbekistan, fostering greater economic cooperation, and pursuing a strategic vision for regional integration and prosperity.
