Islamabad, Feb 27: Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has urged citizens to look for the Ramadan crescent on the evening of Friday, February 28, marking the potential start of the holy month. The announcement, reported by Saudi Gazette, calls on individuals to observe the moon with the naked eye or binoculars and report any sightings to the nearest court or designated authority.
In an official statement, the court emphasized the religious significance of moon sighting, encouraging those with the capability to participate in this act of worship. It also urged people to collaborate with regional committees formed for this purpose, highlighting the spiritual rewards associated with their contribution.
Expected Ramadan Start Dates in Different Countries
In the UAE, the International Astronomy Centre predicts that Ramadan is likely to commence on Saturday, March 1, as per a report by Khaleej Times.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene in Peshawar on the evening of February 28 to observe the moon. If confirmed, Ramadan will begin on March 1. The meeting will be presided over by committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad and is scheduled to take place after the Asr prayer.
