Islamabad, Mar 1: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a dedicated bus service aimed at improving transportation for women in rural areas. This initiative seeks to provide safe, affordable, and comfortable travel options for women commuting between tehsils and district headquarters.
To further enhance accessibility, the provincial government is also considering an inter-village transport system. In addition, a phased plan is under review to introduce 25 buses in remote districts, ensuring that women in far-flung areas have better mobility options.

During a high-level meeting on Tuesday, CM Maryam Nawaz directed officials to develop a comprehensive transportation plan, emphasizing subsidies for female passengers. She highlighted the daily struggles of rural women who often travel in unsafe and inconvenient conditions.
“It is heartbreaking to see women in villages struggling with inadequate transport. A well-structured system will not only make their commute easier but also empower female students and patients,” she stated.
