Islamabad, Mar 1: The Punjab Education Department has issued a strict directive prohibiting private schools from collecting tuition fees for March and April from matriculation students. This decision comes in response to multiple complaints regarding unauthorized charges imposed by some institutions.
Khalid Nazir Wattoo, the Secretary of Schools Education, has instructed all district education authorities to enforce this order effectively. Despite these clear instructions, reports indicate that some private schools have resorted to withholding roll number slips from students who have not cleared their dues. Addressing these concerns, the education secretary has assured that such complaints are under active review. He further emphasized that authorities will implement all necessary measures to ensure compliance with the directive.
With matriculation exams set to commence on March 3, the Punjab Education Department aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families. The department has reiterated its commitment to protecting students’ rights and ensuring that no institution exploits them through unauthorized fee collections.
Schools found guilty of violating these orders will face disciplinary action, reinforcing the government’s stance on maintaining fairness in the education sector. Parents and students are encouraged to report any cases of non-compliance to the relevant authorities for prompt resolution.
