Islamabad, Mar 1: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a comprehensive Ramazan relief package worth Rs 20 billion, aimed at easing the financial burden on struggling families during the holy month. Under this initiative, four million households across Pakistan will receive financial aid of Rs 5,000 each, benefitting nearly 20 million individuals nationwide.
Increased Allocation for Greater Impact
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz highlighted that this year’s relief fund has been enhanced by 200%, increasing from last year’s Rs 7 billion to Rs 20 billion. The significant boost reflects the government’s commitment to supporting low-income families facing economic hardships.
Transparent Digital Distribution System
To ensure fair and efficient distribution, the government will provide the financial assistance through digital wallets, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, technology institutions, and NADRA. This modernized approach aims to eliminate corruption and guarantee that deserving families receive the aid without any delays or irregularities.
“The relief will be distributed equitably across the country, ensuring support for families from Karachi to Gilgit,” the premier stated.

Inflation Control During Ramazan
PM Shehbaz also noted that inflation has shown a downward trend this Ramazan compared to previous years. While he did not present specific figures, he assured citizens that the government is taking measures to stabilize prices and provide maximum relief despite ongoing economic challenges.
Government’s Stance on Terrorism
Addressing national security concerns, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s determination to eradicate terrorism. He condemned the recent terrorist attack in Akora Khattak, which resulted in the tragic loss of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Maulana Hamidul Haq and several others.
“We will not rest until terrorism is eliminated completely,” he asserted, urging provincial authorities to ensure that those responsible face justice.
PM Shehbaz recalled that Pakistan had successfully tackled militancy by 2018, but recent attacks indicate a resurgence of threats. However, he refrained from discussing the reasons behind this resurgence at this time.
With the launch of this historic relief package, the government aims to provide substantial financial assistance to vulnerable families, reinforcing its commitment to public welfare and economic stability during Ramazan.
