Islamabad, Mar 15, 2025: As the sacred month of Ramadan draws to a close and the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, Pakistanis eagerly uphold the cherished tradition of gifting ‘Eidi’ to family and friends, often in the form of crisp new currency notes.
In previous years, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) used to circulate fresh currency notes worth millions ahead of Eid.
However, this long-standing practice was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then, citizens have had to rely on old, worn-out banknotes for their Eid celebrations.
Will Fresh Banknotes Be Issued in 2025?
Reports indicate that the likelihood of new currency notes being issued this year remains uncertain.
The State Bank has yet to make an official statement regarding their availability.
However, given the trend of the past few years, it is improbable that fresh notes will be released for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Despite this, black-market currency dealers are expected to continue selling new banknotes at significantly inflated prices.
Those wishing to distribute crisp notes as Eidi may have to resort to purchasing them at higher rates through unofficial channels.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 Expected Date
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is projected to fall on Monday, March 31.
However, the final confirmation will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, as determined by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
