Islamabad, Mar 19 2025: The Bombay High Court has waived the mandatory six-month cooling-off period in the divorce case of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his estranged wife, Dhanashree Verma.

The court directed the family court to finalize their plea by March 20, considering Chahal’s commitments to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Court Prioritizes IPL Commitments

Chahal and Verma had jointly filed for divorce on February 5, 2024, seeking mutual separation.

However, the family court on February 20 denied their request to waive the cooling-off period, as required under the Hindu Marriage Act.

The couple then approached the high court, which ruled in their favor.

Justice Madhav Jamdar, presiding over the case, acknowledged that Chahal would be unavailable after March 21 due to his IPL commitments.

The court, therefore, urged the family court to reach a decision before that date.
