Islamabad, 28 March 2025: Bazid Khan has expressed concerns over Pakistan’s declining cricketing standards, stating that the team can no longer compete with top sides like India and Australia.
The comments of the renowned commentator followed the disappointing 4-1 defeat of Pakistan in the T20I series against New Zealand.
Speaking on national television, Former cricketer dismissed the idea that Pakistan remains an elite cricketing nation based on past successes.
He emphasized that while Pakistan has won three ICC tournaments in history, India and Australia have each claimed two global titles since Pakistan’s last major victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy.

The former batter questioned why the Men in Green still considers itself among the top teams, despite failing to consistently perform at the highest level.
Bazid pointed out that Green Shits continues to rely on past achievements rather than acknowledging the gap between them and stronger teams.
He noted that the perception of being a leading cricketing nation is no longer backed by recent performances.
Addressing the struggles of Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, Bazid highlighted the lack of emerging talent to support the pace attack.

Afridi managed just two wickets in the five-match series, averaging 66.50. However, Bazid suggested that Pakistan’s failure to develop new bowlers has left them with no proper replacement.
Bazid Khan remarked that while other teams have continued to grow and improve, Pakistan’s cricketing structure has stalled.
He added that Pakistan is no longer competing at the same level as Australia and India and is now comparing itself with teams it once considered weaker, such as New Zealand.
