Islamabad, Apr 9, 2025: Saif Ali Khan recently became the subject of a harrowing and violent stabbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood industry.
Mumbai Police have now unveiled a comprehensive 1,000-page chargesheet that offers a detailed look into the crime, the accused’s actions, and the aftermath of the attack. Saif Ali Khan was attacked on the night of January 16, 2025.
In his Bandra residence by 30-year-old Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who allegedly planned to rob the actor’s home.
According to the chargesheet, Shehzad’s first attempt to break into the building was thwarted by the security system at the main gate, which uses fingerprint recognition.

However, he did not give up and managed to enter through the duct area at the back of the building. He climbed multiple floors and eventually reached the flat where Saif Ali Khan was residing on the eighth floor.
Upon gaining entry to the residence, Shehzad attacked the building’s caretaker, Eliyama Philip, with a knife, demanding money.
Saif Ali Khan stepped in to confront the intruder, leading to a violent struggle. During the altercation, the actor was stabbed multiple times in his back and torso.
It was later revealed that the attacker was unaware that his victim was a celebrity until after the incident. This realization caused him to panic, and he fled the scene immediately.
Forensic analysis confirmed that the knife fragments recovered from Saif Ali Khan’s injuries, the crime scene, and Shehzad’s person were all from the same weapon.
Further evidence included fingerprints matching Shehzad’s found at the scene of the crime and in the duct area, supporting the case against him.
Over 70 witnesses were questioned during the investigation, including Saif Ali Khan, his wife Kareena Kapoor, their household staff, and neighbors, all of whom provided crucial testimonies.
Following the attack, the accused fled from Bandra to Dadar, where he changed his clothes at National College bus stop.
He spent the night in the vicinity before discarding his clothes and the knife near Bandra Talao. After purchasing new clothes and food, he returned to his residence in Worli.
Saif Ali Khan was swiftly transported to Lilavati Hospital after the attack, where he underwent surgery on January 21. He was discharged shortly thereafter and is now reported to be recovering well.

To ensure the actor’s safety, additional security measures have been put in place around his residence, and both Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, have limited their public appearances with their children, Taimur and Jeh, in light of the recent events.
Mumbai Police have confirmed that Shehzad acted alone and that his motives were strictly robbery-based.
The investigation is still underway, with authorities preparing for a swift trial under serious charges, including attempted murder, unlawful entry, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Saif Ali Khan has resumed his professional commitments and is reported to be recovering well.
His resilience through such a traumatic event has left many in the industry and beyond admiring his strength.
