Islamabad, Apr 14, 2025: Pakistani consumers may soon see a noticeable drop in fuel prices, as international oil rates continue to experience a downward trend. Insiders suggest that petrol prices could go down by more than Rs. 8 per litre, offering much-needed relief to the public.
As per early estimates, the cost of petrol might decrease by Rs. 8.27 per litre, while high-speed diesel could witness a decline of Rs. 7 per litre.
Similarly, the price of kerosene oil is anticipated to fall by Rs. 7.47 per litre, and light diesel is likely to become cheaper by Rs. 7.21 per litre.
This potential reduction in fuel prices follows a consistent drop in global oil markets, which directly influences local rates.
This expected drop reflects a major shift in domestic petroleum pricing and could have a positive impact on transportation costs, inflation rates, and overall economic activity in the country.
During the last revision in fuel pricing, the federal government made only a small change, lowering petrol by just Rs. 1 per litre.
With this slight adjustment, petrol prices dropped from Rs. 255.63 to Rs. 254.63 per litre.
However, high-speed diesel remained fixed at Rs. 258.64 per litre. Earlier, on March 15, fuel prices were kept steady with no changes implemented.
This upcoming reduction is expected to offer more meaningful relief compared to the previous minor adjustments.

The timing is crucial, as citizens continue to struggle with rising costs across the board.
A bigger cut in fuel prices could reduce transportation expenses, leading to lower prices for essential goods and services.
The final announcement regarding the new prices will likely be made in the coming days by the Ministry of Finance in consultation with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). If approved, the new rates would take effect from the next pricing cycle.
Keep an eye on official updates, as a significant change in fuel prices could directly affect your monthly expenses.
With global oil prices trending downward, this may be one of the most substantial fuel price cuts seen in recent months.
