Islamabad, 19 Apr, 2025: PCB Plans Autonomy and Super League Season 10 have become the focal points of Pakistan’s cricket administration, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) takes bold strides to grant institutional independence to the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In a decisive move towards modernization, the PCB is preparing to transform the PSL into a privately registered corporation, a shift that promises a new chapter of innovation and professionalism in the country’s premier T20 league.
PCB Plans Autonomy and the progress of Super League Season 10 are intricately linked to this transformation.

According to Salman Naseer, the Chief Commercial Officer of the league, documentation for registering “Pakistan Super League Private Limited” has already been completed.
An official declaration is expected to follow the conclusion of the ongoing tenth season, which began on April 11, 2025.
This strategic restructuring is not a sudden development it traces back to November 2016, when PCB’s governing board, under the leadership of former PSL chairman Najam Sethi, first gave the green light to separate PSL operations from the PCB’s core management.
The original goal was to create an autonomous PSL with its own independent board and corporate framework.
However, the transition was hampered by legal red tape, institutional resistance, and scrutiny from regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), particularly concerning the dual roles of PCB executives in a privatized setup.
Despite the delays, the rationale behind the separation remains strong: streamline operations, improve governance, and draw private sector investment to drive the league’s growth.
While the precise financial structures, including revenue-sharing models and ownership frameworks, have yet to be disclosed, the intent is to build a self-sustaining entity that can thrive independently of PCB’s internal politics.

The move has injected renewed hope into PSL stakeholders who see this as an opportunity to foster stability and commercial success in future seasons. Analysts anticipate more comprehensive disclosures after the conclusion of the current season.
For cricket enthusiasts, Super League Season 10 continues to deliver action-packed entertainment.
And with PCB Plans Autonomy nearing execution, the evolution of Pakistan’s cricketing ecosystem may soon witness a turning point.
