Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties across key sectors such as trade, investment, and aviation during a high-level meeting held on Monday in Islamabad.
The discussions took place between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Foreign Office.
Sheikh Abdullah is in Pakistan for a two-day official visit aimed at reinforcing strategic and economic partnerships.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit includes engagements with top leadership and discussions on both regional and global developments. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his satisfaction with the positive trajectory of UAE-Pakistan relations, remarking that “Pakistan is close to our hearts,” and that both leaderships and peoples are eager to further develop ties.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar echoed these sentiments, highlighting the “ages-old fraternal relations” between the two nations, built on mutual trust and shared values.
MoUs Signed
The two sides signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), including agreements on cultural cooperation and the creation of a joint committee on consular affairs.
Another significant MoU was signed between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to establish a UAE-Pakistan Joint Business Council, aimed at expanding private-sector collaboration.

During his two-day official visit to Pakistan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his optimism about strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations, emphasizing the growing pace of their relationship.

In a joint press conference with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the importance of further developing investment and trade partnerships between Pakistan and the UAE.
He noted that both countries have made significant strides in recent years, with the relationship growing faster than in the past few years.
Sheikh Abdullah also expressed his enthusiasm for continued cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, and aviation.
He reiterated the desire for both nations to maintain a positive momentum in their collaborative efforts.
Ishaq Dar welcomed Sheikh Abdullah’s visit, acknowledging the long-standing fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE.

He conveyed his hope for even stronger ties but recognized the UAE Deputy Prime Minister’s other international commitments, understanding the limited time for the visit.
The UAE is not only one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners in the Middle East but also plays a vital role as a major source of remittances due to the large Pakistani expatriate community residing in the UAE.
