Islamabad: Ministry of Industries has held a meeting to gather proposals for reducing tractor prices in Pakistan.

The minister emphasized that affordable tractors are essential for the benefit of farmers across the country.

He also urged manufacturers to propose ways to reduce tractor prices to make them more accessible.

A high-level meeting on the formulation of the National Tractor Policy was held today under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan.

The meeting focused on the critical role of tractor manufacturers in strengthening the agriculture sector and the broader economy.

Mr. Khan described the National Tractor Policy as a key initiative aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of promoting and safeguarding local industries.

He emphasized that affordable tractors are essential for the benefit of farmers across the country and urged manufacturers to propose ways to reduce tractor prices to make them more accessible.

“Local industry protection is central to the Prime Minister’s vision,” said Mr. Khan, stressing the importance of developing agriculture, exports, and manufacturing together to drive economic growth.

The government’s commitment to increasing exports and strengthening the national economy remains a priority.

The suggestions presented by tractor manufacturers during the meeting will be carefully reviewed, and a follow-up meeting is scheduled for next week to further discuss the agenda.

Mr. Khan also highlighted the potential of tractor loan schemes, which could create job opportunities for unemployed youth in the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, manufacturers raised concerns about high GST, excessive regulatory duties, high markup rates, and the lack of a consistent policy framework.
