Islamabad, 24 April 2025: Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League title suffered a major blow as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
The result leaves Liverpool on the brink of being crowned champions, with just a point needed from their upcoming clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
With Arsenal trailing the league leaders by 12 points, any hopes of a late-season surge now appear slim.
Liverpool, under Arne Slot, could equal Manchester United’s record of 20 league titles if they avoid defeat on Sunday.
Both teams entered the match with their attention divided. Arsenal are preparing for a Champions League semi-final, while Palace are focused on their FA Cup run.

As a result, several key players were rested by both managers.

Palace, though shaky defensively, responded well and found an equaliser midway through the first half.
Adam Wharton’s clipped delivery was met by Eberechi Eze, who volleyed into the ground and saw the ball bounce in off the post.
Leandro Trossard restored Arsenal’s lead before the break, capitalising on a pass from Jurrien Timber and finishing low into the corner.
Despite this, Palace remained a threat and continued to press for another equaliser in the second half.

Their persistence paid off when William Saliba’s misplaced pass gifted substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta a golden opportunity.
The striker made no mistake, calmly chipping the ball over a stranded David Raya.
Concerns were raised among Arsenal supporters after both Ben White and Mikel Merino were left out of the squad.
Mikel Arteta offered no details about their condition, stating only that their availability for the Champions League tie against PSG would be determined closer to the match.
The draw all but ends Arsenal’s title ambitions, while Liverpool now have the chance to seal the trophy in front of their home fans.
