Islamabad, Apr 24, 2025: In a major development to support youth mobility, the Punjab government has launched a transformative program to distribute 10,000 electric bikes for free among deserving students.
This landmark initiative is designed to help financially struggling students by improving their access to educational institutions through eco-friendly transport.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council, led by Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Iqbal Nasrullah.
The session was attended by prominent figures, including Senator Dr. Ghaus Muhammad Khan Niazi, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Parliamentary Secretary Zubair Ahmed, and several Punjab Assembly members.
Who Qualifies for Free E-Bikes?
As per initial updates, this program is exclusively for students eligible for Zakat assistance. Only those registered under the Zakat and Ushr Council’s database will be considered.
This means students from underprivileged families already availing financial help through Zakat will have a fair chance of receiving these modern two-wheelers.

This project is part of a broader vision to empower the youth of Punjab by easing transportation costs and promoting clean energy alternatives.
Finalized eligibility criteria and documentation procedures will be announced soon by the authorities.
Distribution Timeline
In the first rollout, around 2,000 e-bikes will be handed out, although an official distribution date has not been disclosed.
Nasrullah emphasized that the plan is being executed as per the directives of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, who has already initiated several youth-focused programs like scholarships, laptops for students, and bikes on easy installments.
This electric bike scheme not only reflects the government’s dedication toward educational accessibility but also aligns with its mission for a greener Punjab.
