Islamabad, Apr 29, 2025: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has officially declared that the crescent moon marking the start of Zilqad has been sighted in different areas across Pakistan.
A meeting of the Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees was conducted on Monday to track and verify the moon sighting.
This session included active participation from members of the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and experts from the Meteorological Department.
Reliable reports confirming the sighting of the crescent were received from various parts of the country, including Peshawar.
Meteorological experts had earlier forecasted that the new moon would likely become visible between 6:52 PM and 7:50 PM. Their calculations aligned with the actual testimonies later collected from multiple regions.
After gathering numerous credible accounts and completing a meticulous verification process, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee formally confirmed the appearance of the moon.
Consequently, it has been announced that the first day of Zilqad 1446 AH will be observed on Tuesday, April 29.
This announcement holds special significance for the Islamic community, as Zilqad is one of the four sacred months in Islam.
Observing the lunar calendar is a vital tradition, and such announcements guide Muslims in performing religious rituals and setting important schedules accordingly.
Every year, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee carefully evaluates testimonies, consults weather experts, and follows established Islamic principles before making an official declaration.
This ensures that the process remains transparent, authentic, and reliable for the public.
