Islamabad, 29 April 2025: Umar Akmal expressed disappointment over Zulqarnain Haider’s alleged behavior despite supporting him during a serious illness.
In a recent television appearance, Akmal shared that he deliberately chose not to pursue legal action against Haider, citing the latter’s financial struggles.
According to Akmal, although he had reasons to take the matter to court, he refrained out of compassion.

Akmal, who has had a complicated history with Haider, recalled visiting him during a serious illness in 2022.
The Test cricketer noted that he even extended financial help at that time in a gesture aimed at reconciliation.
He credited his wife for encouraging him to step forward and offer support. Akmal remarked that although Haider’s recent behavior has been disappointing, he prefers to stay positive and not dwell on negativity.
The 2022 attempt to mend ties had drawn attention due to the pair’s longstanding feud, which dated back to allegations by Haider claiming Akmal had contributed to derailing his cricketing career.

Haider’s own cricket journey has been marked by turbulence. In 2010, he suddenly left the Pakistan squad during a tour in the UAE, citing threats to his life.
Though he made a return to domestic cricket in later years, he was never called back to represent Pakistan at the international level.
So far, there has been no official response from the Pakistan Cricket Board or from Zulqarnain Haider regarding Akmal’s recent remarks.
The situation has reignited discussions within cricket circles over unresolved conflicts and the emotional toll former players continue to face even after stepping away from the limelight.
