Islamabad – May 1, 2025: Lahore Qalandars delivered one of their most convincing performances of the season, overpowering Islamabad United by 88 runs at Gaddafi Stadium.
After being sent in to bat, Lahore posted an imposing total of 209 for six, thanks to a strong all-round contribution from the batting unit.
Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a 30-ball 44, while Sikandar Raza added 38 runs.
England’s Sam Billings provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 39, guiding the home team to a commanding total.

Islamabad’s bowling attack struggled to contain the aggressive approach, though Imad Wasim and Jason Holder managed to take two wickets each, with Ben Dwarshuis grabbing one.
Chasing 210, United were under pressure from the outset and collapsed to 121 all out in just 16.5 overs. It was their first loss of the tournament after winning five straight games.
Andries Gous fought briefly with 41 from 27 balls, and Salman Ali Agha added 36, but the rest of the line-up fell cheaply. Only captain Shadab Khan (13) and pacer Naseem Shah (11) reached double figures.
With this comprehensive win, Lahore earned two crucial points and boosted their net run rate to 1.110.

The result lifted them to second place on the points table, nudging past Quetta Gladiators, who have the same number of points but have played one fewer match.
Despite the heavy defeat, Islamabad United remained at the top with 10 points from six games, although their net run rate dropped considerably.
As the tournament progresses into its latter half, competition among the top teams continues to intensify, with playoff spots still up for grabs.
